Técnicas in vitro para evaluar la eliminación de la capa de barrillo dentinario mediante irrigantes del conducto radicular: revisión bibliográfica

Introducción: El propósito de esta revisión es abordar las técnicas más comúnmente utilizadas para evaluar la capacidad de eliminación de la capa de barrillo dentinario o la capacidad quelante de los agentes irrigantes de conductos radiculares, incluyendo la Espectroscopía de Rayos X de Energía Dispersiva (EDS o EDX), la Espectrometría de Absorción Atómica de Llama (AASF), la espectrometría de fluorescencia de rayos X (WDXRF), la espectroscopía de emisión de plasma acoplado inductivamente (ICP-AES), la Microscopía Electrónica de Barrido (SEM) y la Espectroscopía Infrarroja por Transformada de Fourier (FTIR).
Métodos: Se realizó una búsqueda electrónica de literatura en la base de datos Pub Med / MEDLINE de revistas indexadas desde 1992 hasta 2020. Los términos de búsqueda incluyeron quelación, quelante, quelación de calcio, barrillo dentinario, eliminación de barrillo dentinario y efecto desmineralizante.
Resultados: Todas las técnicas se clasificaron en función de sus resultados, tanto cuantitativa como cualitativamente. Aunque la eliminación de barrillo dentinario y la capacidad quelante no son los mismos parámetros, la mayoría de los estudios utilizan ambos términos para correlacionar sus resultados. SEM es la técnica más comúnmente utilizada para evaluar la eliminación de barrillo dentinario utilizando varios agentes irrigantes de conductos radiculares. El ácido etilendiaminotetraacético (EDTA) (17%) es el agente irrigante de conductos radiculares más ampliamente estudiado.
Conclusión: Diferentes técnicas pueden ser utilizadas para evaluar la eliminación de barrillo dentinario y la capacidad quelante de los agentes irrigantes de conductos radiculares. Todos estos métodos tienen sus ventajas y desventajas correspondientes. Este estudio tuvo como objetivo proporcionar antecedentes a los investigadores para la selección de técnica(s) durante el estudio de la capacidad quelante de diferentes agentes irrigantes, también aplicable a la remoción de barrillo dentinario.
