Malestar Psicológico Durante el Confinamiento por COVID-19 en Personas con Cirugía Metabólica

Las personas con obesidad a menudo experimentan angustia y síntomas psicopatológicos que pueden mejorar después de someterse a cirugía metabólica. La pandemia de COVID-19 y el confinamiento resultante también han tenido un impacto en la salud mental de la población en general. Dado que las personas con cirugía metabólica tienen un mayor riesgo de desarrollar trastornos psicopatológicos, es importante identificarlos para prevenirlos o tratarlos adecuadamente. El objetivo de este estudio fue investigar la relación entre el malestar psicológico relacionado con COVID-19 y los síntomas psicopatológicos en personas con cirugía metabólica. Métodos: Estudio transversal que incluyó a 102 participantes con más de seis meses de someterse a cirugía metabólica. Se recopiló información sociodemográfica, así como datos sobre el malestar psicológico relacionado con COVID-19 y síntomas psicopatológicos medidos con el SCL-90R. Se utilizó un Modelo de Ecuaciones Estructurales para evaluar los efectos y la correlación entre las variables. Resultados: El 90.2% de los participantes eran mujeres y el 84% había sido sometido a una manga gástrica, mientras que el resto se sometió a un bypass gástrico Roux en Y. El modelo obtenido mostró una correlación significativa entre las subescalas del SCL-90R y el malestar psicológico relacionado con COVID-19, y ambas se correlacionaron negativamente con la edad de los participantes. El factor de malestar psicológico relacionado con COVID-19 tuvo un efecto significativo en el miedo al contagio, la percepción y el conocimiento del riesgo de contagio, siendo la percepción del riesgo la variable con mayor varianza explicada (95.8%). Además, el modelo final mostró buenos indicadores de ajuste. Conclusiones: Los resultados sugieren que el malestar psicológico relacionado con la pandemia y el confinamiento se refleja en puntuaciones más altas en el instrumento SCL-90R en personas con cirugía metabólica. Sin embargo, se necesitan más estudios y pruebas psicométricas con muestras más homogéneas en términos de sexo y técnica quirúrgica.
